What is AION UT should reach Italy together with a new GAC stage | Video

Several months have gone since the Paris motor show, GAC’s last contact. Different from other Chinese companies, this new element of the plan to approach Europe is made of almost invisible and certainly not hurried stages today. Exactly the first move was the Design Studio launched in Milan: They were the first Chinese company in Italy to do so AION UT.

Gradually heading to Europe, GAC will seek to emphasize the quality/price ratio by delivering AION V and AION UT. The company assured that it will have not just electric cars but also hybrids, plugin hybrids, and, in certain European countries, does not rule out also coming with totally thermal petrol models.

First impression of the AION UT by GAC on show in Milan is quite remarkable due to the apparent luxury of the interior: more sophisticated than that of a BYD Dolphin or an ID.3, with a roomy and well-arranged passenger cabin also allowing for some highersegment solutions. The trunk holds 440 liters, the length is 4.27 meters, and the wheelbase is 2.75 meters.

Since the European launch will only occur in Portugal and Poland originally, leaving the job of driving on the major markets—including Italy—to 2026, we do not know the trims. The model displayed, already in circulation in China, also featured an electric tailgate and a panoramic glass roof.

Both inside there is an outstandingly responsive 14.6″ infotainment screen and a small display located under the steering wheel for instrumentation. Among the verified options, then, there is no lack of Apple Car Play, Android Auto, and all Level 2 ADAS features including adaptive cruise control.

The AION UT guarantees 420 km of range with the 60 kWh battery based on a 30 to 80% charge in 24 minutes, but there is already speculation about a more city variant with a smaller battery providing 330 km. The European version’s specifications will be seen at the time of its release, although the engine is 136 hp.

Gac’s plan

Established in 1997, GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group) is a business that merges several brands. Having surpassed 2 million units sold in 2024, it is currently getting ready to debut in Europe. The first Chinese brand to inaugurate one in Italy, the Design center in Europe was founded in Milan in 2022; the initial approach was already in 2018 at the Paris Motor Show.

GAC will start testing the old continent market with the AION brand in 2025 launch in Portugal and Poland and, if all goes well, in 2026 it will also reach other nations including Italy.

During the Milan Design Week, GAC also presented the Ultraluxury concept, a style exercise revealing the design studio’s work and speculating on a selfdriving vehicle with quite precise shapes.

The answer that adds even more of “technological luxury” is curious: a laser scans the diamond and identifies the one-of-a-kind code starting or activating the vehicle just as if it were a key on a ring with a diamond inside.
