ECOVACS Deebot X9 Pro Omni Review: Less Pascal, More Intelligence

The Deebot X9 Pro Omni, ECOVACS’s new flagship model, makes its market debut a few months after the Deebot X8 Pro Omni. One might wonder if another robot vacuum cleaner was truly necessary at such a young age.

While the Deebot X9 Pro Omni does not render its predecessor obsolete, it does bring about some intriguing innovations that help us realize how little a product’s technical data sheet can tell us about its quality.

A SMALLER STATION AND A MORE ELEGANT DESIGN in Deebot X9 Pro

The robot itself appears to be nearly identical to the X8 model at first glance: it is small (353 × 351.5 × 98 mm) and does not have the traditional LiDAR turret, which enables it to fit beneath low furniture. A soft-touch button in the middle of the three orange LEDs, which can be used to start cleaning, pause, or return the robot to its charging station, keeps the design simple. Additionally, there is the upper door that conceals the water and dirt tanks.

The charging station has undergone an aesthetic makeover, becoming less large and featuring vertical development (50 cm high), which conserves space. There are two 4-liter tanks for clean water and two liter tanks for dirty water.

ASPIRATION TECHNOLOGY: EFFICIENCY WITH LESS PAIN

When reading the specifications, the suction power—16,600 Pa compared to the X8 model’s 18,000 Pa—is the most startling number. Although it might appear to be a downgrade at first, ECOVACS introduces a new technology called BLAST that can produce an air flow of 16.3 liters per second. To put it another way, the volume of air is just as important as the pressure. This system ensures better efficiency, increasing flow by 50% while achieving a lower Pa value than conventional systems.

The use of a 100 W brushless motor makes this technology feasible. Next, we locate the central brush, which has the ZeroTangle 3.0 design. It is an 18° inclined roller with 45° combs that prevents hair and fur from tangling. The ARClean side brushes finish the setup, but they are not able to extend, and their bristles are not very long.

SUPERIOR NAVIGATION WITHOUT A TURRET

You don’t have to give up mapping because of the absence of a turret because the LiDAR sensor is built into the front and provides accurate environmental mapping, though it occasionally divides some rooms incorrectly (which is easily fixed with an app). Both the obstacle detection system and the lateral sensor that can identify wall irregularities perform admirably.

AUTOMATIC MAINTENANCE AND DEEP CLEANING USING OSMO ROLLER

The OSMO ROLLER, a floor-cleaning roller that extends and rotates while being washed, is still the flagship model of the Deebot X9 Pro Omni. This reduces the possibility of dragging dirt across the floor, which was an issue with earlier models. Even though it can’t reach all the edges of furniture legs, the pressure (3,700 Pa) is still much higher than that of traditional rotating mops. When necessary, the robot will lift the roller and modify the cleaning according to the type of carpet it recognizes.

The roller is automatically cleaned by the station using hot water that ranges from 40° to 75°, depending on the kind of dirt, and hot air that dries at 63°. The ability to lessen odors and bacterial growth is especially helpful.

The robot’s self-cleaning feature allows it to clean the base 155 days before cleaning, but the dust collection bag needs to be changed roughly every three months. This is made possible by the fact that the collected dirt is compressed each time the robot empties itself in the charging station.

RESULTS: IS THE UPGRADE WORTH IT?

Efficiency-wise, the Deebot X9 Pro Omni is an improvement. The OSMO ROLLER system and the new BLAST technology provide noticeable improvements in daily cleaning. The station’s enhanced design and automated hygiene management make it a good tool for people who want the most comfort.

The upgrade is not required if you currently own a Deebot X8 Pro Omni. However, the X9 Pro Omni is one of the most comprehensive and clever options available for individuals searching for a high-end robot vacuum cleaner today.
