EXTERIORS: THE DIMENSIONS ARE GROWING

We knew the new Renault Clio would grow a bit, and now we have the exact measurements. It’s grown from 4.05 to 4.12 meters in length (+67 mm), with longer overhangs, and from 1.73 to 1.77 meters in width (+39 mm). The height, however, stands at 1.45 meters (+11 mm). The wheelbase has grown by 8 mm, reaching 2.59 meters. The look is completely new , making the new 2026 Renault Clio more modern and sporty. The front end, in particular, has been completely redesigned, with the lines of the hood converging towards the protruding grille “adorned with a myriad of diamonds .” The new light signature, with large daytime running lights reminiscent of the logo’s diamond, is complemented by the redesigned front light cluster. The black wheel arches present across the range (matte on the entry-level model and gloss on the top-of-the-line trims) accentuate the sportiness of the new Clio. The wheels are 18 inches, while the track has been increased by 39 mm compared to the previous generation. The rear window line appears more inclined than the fifth-generation Clio, which benefits aerodynamics. In total, there will be a choice of seven body colors: Absolute Red, Absolute Green, Glacier White, Aviation Grey, Schist Grey, Étoilé Black, and Iron Blue.

INTERIOR: LOTS OF TECHNOLOGY

The passenger compartment has also made a significant generational leap. A significant upgrade in technology has been achieved , and the interior appears more refined, thus enhancing the perceived sense of quality. The area in front of the passenger is upholstered in fabric and features a backlit LED strip in a color chosen from 48 ambient lighting options, which is echoed in the transparent light element integrated into the door panels. In the top-of-the-line Esprit Alpine trim, fabric is replaced with Alcantara, while the area around the air vents is painted with a special chrome plating technique in color gradients that reproduce a dedicated burnished metal tone.

The dashboard structure is reminiscent of the Renault 5. Speaking of technology, we find a dual 10.1-inch display (depending on the version) in a V-shape, with the central screen facing the driver. The infotainment system is based on Android Automotive and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay . To use apps downloaded from Google Play, customers can count for the first time on 2 GB/month of data included for 3 years. More demanding consumers will have the option of subscribing to a subscription to benefit from a higher data volume.

The new steering wheel also features a MULTI-SENSE button that allows you to select the driving mode and, consequently, the ambient lighting color of the cabin. The seats are characterized by the use of recycled fabrics with double graphics and colored stitching (depending on the version).
There are also several storage compartments. The cabin includes two USB-C sockets in the front, an inductive charger (depending on the version), and a 12V socket in the rear. The trunk? Depending on the engine chosen, there is up to 391 liters . The loading sill is 40 mm lower than that of the previous-generation Clio.

ENGINES: THE NEW FULL HYBRID ARRIVES

The sixth generation of the Renault Clio is based on the CMF-B platform and will be offered with a range of three new engines ranging from 115 to 160 hp. More specifically, the range-topping E-Tech Full Hybrid 160 hp engine allows the new Clio to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. Its CO2 emissions have dropped to 89 g/km thanks to lower certified combined fuel consumption compared to the E-Tech Full Hybrid 145 hp engine, with just 3.9 l/100 km, or up to 40% less than conventional petrol engines.

According to Renault, the new Clio can drive in the city up to 80% of the time in electric mode, while its range on the road can reach 1,000 km. We already know the technical layout as this hybrid engine has already made its debut on other models of the French brand . The main new feature is the 4-cylinder internal combustion engine, which has increased its displacement from 1.6 liters to 1.8 liters . Its power output is now 80 kW, or 109 hp, compared to the previous 94 hp . The powertrain also features a 36 kW e-motor (the engine that provides traction) and a 15 kW HSG (High-Voltage Starter Generator). There is also a 1.4 kWh battery (previously 1.2 kWh) and the presence of the special intelligent multi-mode gearbox with clutchless dog clutch, specifically designed for Renault’s hybrid system, is confirmed.

Moving forward, the new Renault Clio range will be based on the 115 hp 1.2-liter TCe three-cylinder engine , which offers a substantial improvement in performance compared to the previous generation and will be available with a manual transmission. Later, the French manufacturer also intends to introduce the 120 hp Eco-G three-cylinder version with EDC automatic transmission and dual-fuel petrol/LPG powertrain.
Naturally, the sixth-generation Renault Clio will feature all the latest ADAS systems developed by the French brand, including Active Driver Assist with intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, front and rear detection with emergency trajectory correction, automatic emergency braking when reversing, a safe occupant exit warning, and Emergency Stop Assist, which slows the vehicle to a complete stop if the driver is inactive.
