Samsung Confirms: One UI 7 Launch for Galaxy S24, Fold, and Flip 6 Postponed

Reportedly, Samsung has abruptly halted the worldwide release of One UI 7, the new edition of the Android 15based user interface which started on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 and which started only a few days ago following months of waiting and a distribution. Rumors are the change would result from a major error found early in the distribution process; the company not yet formally confirmed it is said to be true.

SAMSUNG AFFIRMS SUSPENSION

One UI 7 release is postponed.
Following an April 7 launch in several nations, the update first started being released in the US and Europe on April 10. But, as per renowned leaker Ice Universe, some South Koreans started reporting difficulties opening their phones soon after installation, so Samsung had to temporarily withdraw the upgrade package.

On Samsung’s Korean forums over the weekend, discussions about the stopping of the rollout came rapidly surfaced with reliable sources including Ice Universe and Tarun Vats confirming the South Korean firm has taken the firmware off their OTA servers. Though first appearances suggested the Snapdragonbased versions, sold in other international markets as well as the US and Europe, were also affected, later updates stated that the problem first seemed to be confined to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models based on Exynos 2400.

Although Samsung has not yet formally disclosed the problem, the rollout pause also raises questions on the roadmap for other devices compatible with One UI 7, such the Galaxy S23 series. Those who already have the update will probably see a second patch issued soon . The precise reason of the problem and when it will recommence distribution are still not known. Meanwhile, those still awaiting One UI 7 might have longer than anticipated waiting times.

ERROR DISOURAGE IN PERSONAL AREA

While it is not clear if this is the problem found, an essential vulnerability has emerged in the Personal Area of One UI 7 in the past few days. Sam mobile says that thanks to the automatic creation of photographic “stories,” the Gallery included within the Personal Area can show protected material outside the safe zone. The issue arises when the Gallery, inside the Personal Area, crafts a narrative and the user gets an outsideof the guarded area notification related to this story. The photos in the story become visible once the notification is clicked, even if they are viewed from beyond the Personal Area. The operation acts independently, therefore revealing documents that should be kept confidential; this is not caused by coercion or control.

Disable automatic story generation by opening the Gallery app in your Personal Area, clicking the Menu button, then Settings, and then turning off the “Automatically create stories” choice to prevent this issue. Since the feature seems to be activated automatically, you might want to manually verify its status.

Although it has not been formally verified that this flaw is one of the key causes for Samsung pulling the update, it is still a significant weakness the business will need to address.

SAMSUNG CONFIRMS SUSPENDED_ACTIONPLAN:

First officially addressing the episode, Samsung indirectly confirms the stop of the deployment. The business said in a press release issued to the media:

Currently revising the One UI 7 release calendar so that the best possible experience can be guaranteed. Soon, fresh schedules and availability will be made known.
Although the communication does not provide specific technical information or clearly affirm the problems that have arisen, it is taken to mean that the corrective approach is already under review and more updates will be issued soon.
